With the recent premiere of Prohibition, we were inspired to make a drink from that era that uses bourbon. The boulevardier first caught our attention back in June when Gear Patrol recommended it as a great Father’s Day cocktail. We also recently ran across Sippity Sup's fun history of the drink.
2 oz. bourbon
1 oz. Campari
1 oz. sweet vermouth
Pour into a shaker full of ice. Shake well and strain into chilled cocktail glasses. Garnish with a strip of orange or lemon zest.
We used Black Maple Hill for this, as it’s best to use a spicier bourbon to counterbalance the bitter sweetness of the other ingredients. As Domestic Daddy says, “It’s like the love child of the Negroni and the Manhattan, living in some luxurious exile in Paris.”blog comments powered by Disqus
